Tikal Mayan ruins
Visiting the much anticipated Mayan Ruins of Tikal was definitely a real deep jungle experience not to missed, and still seems pretty off the beaten path for being such a large tourist attraction. The map we bought did not include the many endless wildlife trails that surround most temples and we happily got lost amongst giant frogs, howler monkeys and toucans!
And here is where I will admit; organic insect repellent does NOT work in the real jungle! Savages!
