THE BASICS
Island paradise fit for backpackers and luxury travelers alike. Near the Great Blue Hole: one of the biggest diving destinations in the world. Cheap lobster and chill-out island life will be had.
HIGHLIGHTS
- $10 lobster almost everywhere
- Pause animal shelter/hostel: A hostel that has 80 rescued cats and a few dogs. You can volunteer to take the dogs for walks around the island! Great way to explore and help an animal in need! I really loved this.
- Dive the Great Blue Hole, yea its way too expensive but YOLO.
GOOD FOR WORKING REMOTELY
It's really hard to concentrate here. Everyone is in serious vacay mode! It's also very humid and hot and nowhere seems to have aircon. Try to plan a few days off here if you can.
AVERAGE SPENT PER DAY
150 Belize dollars. Very expensive. Get in and get out! Unless you are short-term traveling and can spend all your money in a couple of weeks. I also can't say no to lobster and pina coladas if my life depended on it..
WOULD I COME BACK
Everything about this place was perfect except for the sand flies. I am covered head to toe in itchy little dots from these monsters. For that and the price, I will not be back anytime soon.
