San Marcos Fermentation Workshop
Today the rest of us mystical yoga farm stragglers attended an all day fermentation workshop in San Marcos on Lake Atitlan Guatemala. We had been well addicted to Love Probiotics, a local company run by a couple that makes kombucha, sauerkraut, kimchi, vinegar and a few other fermented items. These products were pretty much all we could get our hands on all month, so we were not only intrigued, but a little obsessed with this brand. When the opportunity came to learn how to make these products from scratch, we all jumped on it.
The workshop included hands on crafting of ginger beer (my favorite!), vinegar, mead, sauerkraut, pickles and sourdough bread. I can't wait to one day have somewhere to try and make these yummy treats!
